The 38th Annual Hampton Roads Leadership Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Chesapeake Conference Center on Nov. 12, 2013. This marks the first time in its 38 year history that it has been held outside of Norfolk.
The long-running event has hosted an impressive list of distinguished speakers over the years to include: Roger Staubach, professional football player; Johnny & June Carter-Cash, country music legends; Rev. Jerry Falwell, founder of Liberty University; John D. Ashcroft, former U.S. Attorney General; Meadowlark Lemon, former Harlem Globetrotter; and J. Randy Forbes, U.S. Congressman and founder of the bi-partisan Congressional Prayer Caucus.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Carlos Campo, nationally recognized educator and noted speaker. He has enjoyed an amazing 25 year career in academia and has been recognized in “Who’s Who Among American Teachers,” as an “Outstanding Educator” and “Educator of the Year” by local and national organizations.
Many elected officials from Hampton Roads including Congressman J. Randy Forbes, Va. Senator John Cosgrove, Chesapeake Mayor Alan Krasnoff , Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim, Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms, Portsmouth Mayor Kenneth Wright, Suffolk Mayor Linda Johnson and Chesapeake Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan will participate in this year’s program.
Bishop Kim Brown, Senior Pastor of The Mount and Dr. Eric Thomas, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Norfolk will also be a part of the program. Music will be provided by Earl Bynum & The Mount Unity Choir. Breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 am with the program starting at 7:00 and ending at 9:00 am.
