Even though most of us grew very weary from all the political advertisements, robo calls, door knockers, flyers, yard signs, etc. of the recent election season—The Citizen wants to give well-deserved kudos to all those volunteers from both parties who freely gave hours upon hours of their time and energy to take part in election activities. Our campaigns and elections may be messy, contentious and last way too long—but our political system is still the best in the world.

Thanks to all of you citizens who make the effort to be well informed on the candidates and issues and most importantly get out and vote for your candidates of choice.

We are also thankful for the hard-working men and women who brave the political waters and run for public office.

Many thanks are due to the dozens of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the Chesapeake Wine Festival a tremendously successful fundraiser for the Chesapeake Rotary Club.  Local charities will receive $150,000 as a result of this event.
